Teams

  • We are running around 35 different ministry activities at St Marys, without admin support this level of coordinated ministry would be impossible. If you have a passion for this kind of work we would love to hear from you. The options are very flexible and can fit in with your schedule and your skill set.

  • Alpha sits at the heart of why we exist as a church. To offer the guests the best possible experience of christian community requires a committed team of people with different gifts. So whether you are passionate about prayer, hospitality and welcome, or just love chatting with people the Alpha team would love to hear from you.

  • Our beautiful church building offers us so many opportunities to serve and connect with our local communities. Being big and old means that there are regular maintenance and repair tasks that need to be carried out throughout the year. If you are an experienced tradesperson or just love DIY do get in touch for more info.

  • In many ways our Café operates as not only a safe and welcoming meeting place for the local community but it is also like a reception area pointing towards other ministries and activities we offer here at St Marys. There are a wide range of opportunities to serve in the cafe team, making coffees (training given) serving tables, running the card machine or making some of the home baked goods the café has become known for. Less obvious, but essential to the vision, is having people serving who have a connecting gift, people who are able to represent St Marys. We are not just a café in a church but we want people to get to know something of what Church is when they come to the café and this requires some of the Church community to be present and available to speak to guests and make them feel welcome. If any of the above feel like areas you have a gifting in, the Cafe Team would love to hear from you.

  • We have one of the highest proportions of under 18’s to adults in the diocese. We need to be proud of this as a church but it is also a great responsibility for us as we disciple the next generation. There are a variety of different roles that make ministry to under 18’s a success. It might be that you love working with a certain age group, or that you would love to serve behind the scenes. There are a variety of different opportunities to serve across the whole age range at St Mary’s. This is a vital part of our ministry so if you would like to speak more about how you might be able to serve or what you feel you could offer we would love to hear from you.

  • The Hospitality Team, along with the Welcome Team offers those coming to St Marys the welcome we have become known for. Sharing food with people at St Marys, whether on a Sunday morning with coffee and pastries or at an Alpha course with a three course meal we want offer the best we can to bless those who come to us. If you love cooking, baking, serving or are just willing to do some washing up, we would love to hear from you.

  • Little Moles has become a local institution and has been a place where parents and carers of pre-school children can come and receive a warm welcome from St Marys, connect with other local parents and hear christian songs and Bible Stories. There is a variety of roles in this team, whether you love baking or welcoming or chatting one to one with parents we would love to hear from you.

  • Under the ‘Love Your Neighbour’ banner sits much of what we do in serving the wider community in practical ways. It might be through bereavement support, Foodbank, CAP money advice or something else. If you have a heart of compassion that is drawn to serve those in need then we would love to hear from you. To see what is currently happening in this area look at our Love Your Neighbour page. But equally it might be that God has put something on your heart that we are currently not offering and if so we would also love to hear from you.

  • Our Production Team provide technical support for sound and visuals at our sunday services and other events. No specific experience to join the team is necessary, all training will be required. If you have an interest in technology it’s a great way to be involved and play an important role in enabling our events to run smoothly.

  • Everyone is Welcome at St Marys and The Welcome Team makes sure that the first interactions people have as they come through the door reflects that. St Mary’s is more than a building, it is our church home and we want people to be made to feel comfortable when they come in. If you feel passionate about making people feel at home at St Marys we would love to hear from you. Training will be given.

  • Worship is at the heart of why we all come together as a Church on a Sunday morning. So that we can honour God to the best of our ability and that our hearts are drawn in to worship we want to strive to be the best we can. If you have musical gifts and a passion for worship, we would love to speak to you about how you might able to serve on this team.
